Your Swiss Ablation Team
Concept.
Swiss Ablation specializes in the heart, heart rhythm disorders and particularly atrial fibrillation.
We are a comprehensive center of excellence, meaning we have everything in-house and everything from a single source (One stop shop). We provide the most modern cardiology, electrophysiology, and heart surgery.
One of our particular focuses is on atrial fibrillation, from prevention and diagnosis to treatment. We are the only clinic in Switzerland to perform all procedures on an outpatient basis, meaning you do not have to stay overnight in our clinic and can go home or to a nearby hotel at the end of the day. If desired or medically necessary, an overnight stay in our clinic or a partner hospital is possible.
Preparation, treatment, and aftercare are conducted by our interdisciplinary Heart Team, which is made up of highly specialized doctors and nursing staff, including cardiac anesthetists.
Our treatment concept includes not only therapy for heart rhythm disorders but also the detection of underlying diseases and functional disorders, aiming to prevent complications and recurrences. We also use the latest findings from the fields of nutrition, sports, and preventive medicine.
Swiss Ablation specializes in the heart, heart rhythm disorders, and particularly atrial fibrillation.
Origin.
Heart rhythm disorders can occur in various parts of the heart, at unusual moments and they can affect us all.
Cardiac arrhythmias are found in younger patients with certain risk factors, in trained endurance athletes, and with increasing age. However, they can also occur completely spontaneously. Frequently, an irregular heart rhythm is discovered by chance, for example, during a routine check-up. Sometimes patients have complained about symptoms for years.
If there is a disturbance at one point, the result is an irregular pulse, also known as arrhythmia. This can cause various symptoms. The common causes of arrhythmias include coronary heart disease (CHD), heart attack, heart muscle disease, heart valve disease, high blood pressure, thyroid dysfunction, lung disease, stress, and excessive consumption of alcohol and coffee.
If a change in heart rhythm is suspected, it is important to see a specialist as soon as possible to understand the specific type of cardiac arrhythmia. Should you suffer from a dangerous arrhythmia, we will work with you to find the right treatment, eliminate risk factors, and improve your quality of life.

Ablation.
The treatment of patients with atrial fibrillation is conducted either with medicines or invasively with an ablation.
Many symptomatic patients are recommended catheter ablation as the most effective therapy option. Thus, depending on the situation, an invasive strategy may be possible even before taking medication.
Types of Ablation:
- Catheter Ablation (Cryo, RF, and PFA):
- Ablation inside the heart
- Combination with 3D Mapping possible
- Can be performed multiple times
- Surgical Ablation (Thoracoscopic Maze):
- Ablation on the heart’s surface
- Left atrial appendage closure
- Hybrid Procedure:
- Combination of 1 and 2
- Expert collaboration: The best of both worlds
- From inside (Endocardial) – Cardiology: Electrophysiological examination (3D Mapping) and treatment by catheter ablation
- From outside (Epicardial) – Heart Surgery: Surgical ablation with left atrial appendage closure
- Rate Control “Pace and Ablate Strategy”:
- Long-term treatment in case of therapy failure of options 1 to 3
- Pacemaker implantation and disabling the native pacemaker with AV-node ablation
