Overall Medical Tourism Index Ranking

The Medical Tourism Index (MTI) was created in 2014 as a unique survey tool for healthcare destinations that provides a comprehensive analysis of the medical travel industry. The Medical Tourism Index ranks 46 international healthcare destinations by using data that was gathered by conducting a national survey with 3,030 Americans of every age, gender, education, and socioeconomic status. The MTI considers the following three main factors as the drivers of medical tourism:

  • The Destination’s Environment
  • The Destination’s Medical and Tourism Industry
  • The Destination’s Quality of Facilities and Services

Choosing the Right Destination

  • Research: Consider the quality of medical facilities, accreditation, and patient reviews.
  • Cost: Compare costs of procedures and overall travel expenses.
  • Language: Check if the medical staff speak your language or if translation services are available.
  • Travel and Accommodation: Look into travel arrangements, accommodation options, and any additional services provided by hospitals.

Medical tourism can offer significant benefits in terms of cost and access to specialized treatments. By carefully selecting a destination based on your medical needs, budget, and personal preferences, you can make an informed decision that enhances your overall healthcare experience.
